India - Goa
Another early start in a taxi to the airport we headed to Goa. As we only had one night in Goa we decided to spend it in Panajim, Goa's capital instead of heading to the beaches.Panajim wasn't as quaint as it souned in the Lonely Planet so we jumped on some auto rickshaws to see the sights of Old Goa. These Portugese must have been very into their religion as all the sights we saw consisted of massive churches. It was a relaxing afternoon of more food and a few cold beers and Janelle's first alcoholic beverage for the trip, a Cranberry Breezer.
At one stage we were asked by some Indan tourists for a photo with their daughter. We kindly agreed and posed around her, it was suggested that we touch her shoulders and head whilst having the photo, not quite sure why but obliged anyway! We think it has something to do with us looking like we are her friends. This one photo caused us to be mobbed by every Indian tourist within a 1 km radius. We all felt like celebrities, except Ben who grew tired of the charade rather quickly.
We ventrured back to our room, tired and exhausted from all of our walking. We had a quick break and were out on the streets of Goa to explore the shops and town.
The girls decided to do a bit of shopping but in one shop were told we shouldn't try things on unless we are going to buy them, this was told to us as we walked out the door. Sari and Ceri did manage to buy a few skirts which were going to be a refreshing change from their current wardrobe, Sari was very much over her red pants at this point! We strolled along the water front and looked for a cruise, but hunger got the better of us and we decided to have a long overdue break for dinner instead. We had a seafood dinner by the water and then headed back to our rooms full and exhausted.
