Portraits of plants
I've always loved those old botanical paintings of plants early explorers would do to document their travels. There is a subtle mix of science and art in those paintings that show off an amazing specimen in a subdued way.
I started this series a while back with a herb plant in our kitchen and some from our garden. A lot were donated by @candidnan from a previous portrait shoot with the lovely Amelie.
I aimed for the final images to be focused on the specular detail in each of the plants. That is the little details that pop out while the stem and background fade out of notice. Plants are pretty amazing little living things that are beautiful on their own.
